21 Day commitment + 2 (Falechia Turman)

21 Day commitment + 2
I am truly on a roll with my working out now it almost like second nature to me to work out. I sprung out of bed and did my Morning exercise program. I got on the precor for 30 min this time, I then ran on the tread mill for 30 min; stretch for 30 min then did my spin class for an hour. I am eating better and I must say this hour glass figure is looking really good. Until I blog again later

21 day commitment + 3 (Treena Glover)

I jogged around the field near my house for thirty minutes. I was going to hit the gym hard tonight, but family responsibilities (read teenager) became my number one concern on this night.

21 day commitment + 2 (Treena Glover)

Twenty two straight days of exercising. On the 23rd day....I rested!

21 day commitment + 1 (Treena Glover)

At 6:30pm I laid down preparing to sleep. It was a busy day and I was exhausted!! My mother came to my home to watch my children and I decided I would use the time she was over to rest. I put my head on my pillow and the very first thought that came to my mind was Hapkido. Weird...I know. I got up grudgingly, dressed, grabbed my gym bag, a towel, some water and walked out the door.

As I headed for my gym, my energy seemed to return. By the time I arrived at my gym and changed into my Hapkido gear...I was revved up and ready for class!! I am sooooooooooo glad I found the will to go to class today. SCREAM!!! I received my black stripe on my white belt today...in addition to another white (leadership) stripe. As of today, I now know all of the requirements needed to test and qualify for the next belt color. Though I have the knowledge I have to wait until the official test date in September.

I ate well balanced meals today. However, I only consumed 8 cups of water. As I am typing this I feel dehydrated...so I'm going to drink 2 more cups of water when I sign off.

Until tomorrow...Stay strong...find the will to push on in life...define what success is to you, then move in that direction...

day 21 of 21 (Treena Glover)

YIPPEEEE!!!!!!!!! YAHOO!!!!!!!! I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!! Falechia, Bonita (Co-Producers of Self Portrait) and I committed to exercising for 21 straight days for better health...while also trying to make exercise a habit. Well... I did it. Though the scale only shows that I'm five pounds lighter...I appear slightly leaner with smaller measurement sizes.

The goal of 21 days was to make exercise habit forming...so we (falechia, bonita and I) are not going to stop exercising...QUITE CONTRARY...we are going to continue on in this cycle of healthy living. When I blog tomorrow...I will title it 21 day commitment +1.

Two things worth mentioning on day 21.

First, we taped another show. Yayyyyyy!!! In the show we talked about our various body types and the pros and cons of our respective body types. I am considered an apple, which means my weight has a tendency to congregate above my waist. This is not good because the fat can become embedded and intertwined with my vital organs creating a number of health issues including diabetes. However, body shaped apples can lose weight the fastest. You'll have to check out our CAN-TV show to see the body types of Bonita & Falechia.

Second, I went to Hapkido and trained in Hapkido & exercised for one hour (that's nothing new). However, what is note worthy is that I did twenty 'flibink' push-ups (Hapkido style). That is major for me because it indicates that my arms are becoming stonger!!

I didn't meet with my personal trainer, Rock, because I'm still trying to gage how realistic it would be for he & I to be able to focus ONLY on exercise.

So...on day 21 I worked out for one hour in Hapkido.

For breakfast I ate oatmeal, fruit and yogurt. I drank two cups of water before breakfast and two cups of water after breakfast.

For lunch I ate a hamburger without the bun. I wrapped my meat and toppings in lettuce. I also drank two cups of water.

For a snack I ate popcorn. But...lol...I was talking on the phone to Falechia while eating it and she asked the question what kind of popcorn. So... I'll share that it wasn't healthy...it was Oke Doke hot stuff cheese popcorn. I drank two cups of water before eating my snack then drank two cups of water one hour after eating it. With all of the water consumption I ate only a few handfuls of the popcorn.

For dinner I had a southwestern salad with two cups of water.

In total I drank 12 cups of water a day.

day 20 of 21 (Treena Glover)

Day 20 was reserved for celebrating my ma's birthday...so needless to say I didn't eat right. LOL! That's a picture of my ma to your left. Isn't she BEAUTIFUL! Look at her gorgeous shiny gray hair.

Her bday was on August 9th, but she just returned from her week long celebration in Atlanta. My siblings and I decided to get together and honor my mom once she returned. I typically buy all of the food for our celebrations. My sister Tasha cooks all the food. My brother Darnell finances all the gifts and my sister Teresa actually goes to the store to make the gift purchases. This year, my sister Teresa was convinced that my mother wanted a WII. Hmmmmm....I just didn't believe it until I saw my mother's whole face light up when she opened her game. My mother wants to use the WII as her personal fitness plan. Funny...but I spent a whole hour exercising to it...while my fam sat around watching me wondering when I was going to get off so my mom can use it. LOL.

So...on day 20 let's just say I didn't eat right and leave it at that. However, I exercised lightly by walking for 30 minutes near the field by my house when I first woke up. In addition, I exercised for one hour on my ma's Wii fitness program. Her Wii was GREAT, even telling me my body fat percentage along with planning weight loss goals. I did the strength training for twenty minutes, the cardio for twenty minutes, yoga for a few minutes and then I switched to her boxing program for about ten minutes, followed by a few minutes of golf, tennis and bowling. Dang...I'll have to visit ma more often to use her Wii.

Until day 21...Remember that I love and honor each and every person who is taking the time to read my blogs!

Day 20of 21 Day commitment (Falechia Turman)

Day 20of 21 Day commitment

This is day twenty and I can honestly say that I have workout the entire 21 days rather it be a low cardio or really intense cardio while keeping my circuit training every other day. I sprung out of bed this morning with the anticipation of doing my morning workout. I got to the gym at 3:30 and jumped right on the precor. Now I know people are probably saying why the heck she wakes up so early but the fact of the matter is I am a morning person. If you want to catch me at my most energetic moment then you would need to catch me in the morning. School is starting soon for me so I must really concentrate on getting my workout, work, school routine down packed and I know I will been doing this a long time well excluding working out but school and work a long time so I know I can get a schedule going for myself.

What’s on the menu for Day 20 of 21 for me?

Breakfast: Quarter piece of Watermelon

Snack: Cup of Watermelon

Lunch: cup of shrimp fried rice with some hot paste :-)

Snack: two cups musk melon

Dinner: cup of shrimp fried rice with some hot paste

As everyone probably can see Watermelon is my favorite fruit and it really does not matter what type of melon it is. It can be black melon, the traditional melon, musk melon, yellow melon etc… I LOVE it all. Oh by the way I had a large shrimp fried rice and pretty much at that for my lunch and dinner and yes I ask them to leave out the MSG.

day 19 of 21 (Treena Glover)

Day 19 was great. I woke up to find I was in no pain whatsoever!! Read Blog 18 about my back strain. However, I decided to still take it light on the exercising. My exercise today was cleaning my kitchen (pic attached) for thirty minutes while walking non-stop (walking in place during some moments). When I was done I did ten minutes of light stretching. My kitchen looked great (!)...but I felt like I wanted a more intense exercise. I haven't even made it to day 21 and my body is already habitually craving a workout.
So on day 19 I exercised by moving non stop in cleaning my kitchen for thirty minutes. Also, I did ten minutes of full body stretching.
For breakfast I ate two sliced apples, a bagel and a bowl of cold cereal. I drank two cups of water before breakfast and two cups of water after breakfast.
For lunch I ate watermelon, two hotdogs, a hamburger, baked beans, plain chips, two cookies and two juices. Dang!! Can ya'll tell I was at a picnic. Okay...let me explain that I split all of that with my two toddlers. Smiling! So I actually consumed very little...only tasting everything listed.
For a midday snack I had a plate full of fruit; strawberries, watermelon (again...yayy), melons, pineapples and grapes. My best friend from grammar school, Nefertitti Muhammad found me via my sister Tasha's facebook profile (I'm not on facebook...yet). Nef had her babyshower today so I attended to support her. I miss you Nef, girl!. Love ya! Well, I had my midday snack at her party.
For dinner I had Harold's Chicken. Yummy! I treated myself to two wings, a little fries and one slice of bread then saved the rest for somebody in my household to eat.
I didn't do well with water consumption. I had only six cups of water.
Until day 20...take a moment out of this day to pamper yourself...even if it's only for ten minutes.
